The final day is here. The past week has been filled with a ton of fun and sun, and memories to last a lifetime.
So now we take some time to reflect and overlook the past...
Forget that! The weather is great, the beach is still close by and we are raring to go!
My parents had spent the night at the beach house last night, and they are up at the crack of dawn and joined by other younger, hungrier people. I am not one for waking up with the roosters, but I am not too far behind.
The early morning crew is already planning one last morning stole long the beach.
The girls take turns walking the dog and otherwise enjoying the peaceful waves.

While they are enjoying the morning sun. I take one last opportunity to hit the gym. I am not sure if it is the sun, the scenery or the better equipment but my workout goes very nicely. In fact I beat my personal best for the 1 mile run of 6:36. Still a bit more to go for my goal of under 6:00 but being within almost a 1/2 min feels good.
After I get back Mom and Dad are packing up and getting ready to hit the road. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive back to their house, and they have to be back to pick up the dog from summer camp.
We say our good byes, then relax and eat lunch. Some sandwiches and leftovers.
We spend a bit of time talking about what to do for the last night for dinner. We wanted to eat at a nice but not exclusive restaurant. After a bit of searching and calling around we settle on a place in Bohicket Mariana. (This was the one place we didn't call, more on that later)
We relax for a bit, Mel and her girls begin packing their car. They plan to leave just after dinner. They will stay for an extra night at Mom's and drop of Kayla who will be spending some extra time with them there for the next week.
So after lunch we hit the beach once more. This time Elijah has had a bit too much sun and decides to stay back and watch a movie. I pretty much just get right into the water and swim out fairly far, about 200-300 yards. It is still only up to my chest at that point.
Kayla joins me after just a few mins, and we have some nice time to catch up on life and plans, while enjoying the ocean. Mel comes 20 mins later and we then talk about sharks. Kayla was pretty sure she saw a fin not more then a few hundred feet away.
By this point it is getting later in the afternoon, and I am also about sunned out. We pack up the beach stuff and head back.
After a quick shower and getting dressed, we soon head out for dinner.
We arrive at Bohicket and have no issues finding a spot to park. So far so good. Then we start to looking for our restaurant. Well its not here, hmmm the "you are here" sign says it is right where we are standing.. Hmm... Lets ask... Oh closed you say...... *Sigh*
So we quickly talk and decide to go to Reds again. I am ok with it, but some of the party (Elijah) begins grumbling. My complain % was pretty far off, it was closer to 100%....
Anyway we get a seat outside, in the same spot as the first day. So it is a bit of synergy. And we start the ordering process. We do get our drinks pretty quickly, and we wait for quite a while for the food.
Finally about an hour and a half after parking we are ready to start eating. The waiter begins handing out the food, and gets about 2 or 3 dishes put in place. You can almost hear the saliva being generated, as we anticipate the food on our tongues. He sets the really big tray down on the corner of the table And BAM!! the entire tray falls and all the food is everywhere.
Everyone looks around in shock. Then the cleanup starts and the food is remade.
About 20 mins later we now have a second chance to eat. This time the waiter comes with help. And thankfully no more spillage. There was an abundance of things to eat, as the few lucky ones that got their food the 1st time also got 2nd helpings.
Just about as we begin to start eating a band of 2 guys starts playing. They sounded good, and it helped get people back into a good mood.
Before we know it, there is a dance party going on. So I get people up from the table and we join the fray.
After letting they girls play with their new friends for a bit, we try for a few more family photos. Mostly good. Stella is such a camera princess.
Finally after we are all said and done, we get back in the car and head towards the house.
I make a quick stop at a different board walk and figure it was so nice, might was well have one last look at the ocean.
On the way toward the beach we see this magnificent house overlooking the ocean, and a little dear along they way. We got within 20 feet of him before he scampers off.
We get a call from Mel and she just wants to say bye, she leaves the house and will soon be off the island and on her way home..
We take yet 1 more set of pictures with a different scenery.
We walk along what is left of the beach and say our final farewells...
Soon we are back at the house and being the packing scramble. We get the van all loaded up and ready to go by 10:30pm. Leaves just enough time for a few drinks, a couple of smooches and a page or 2 of my book.
I am a bit more restless tonight, but still get to drifting off fairly quickly. Lots of driving coming up soon...
